Kandy, Cultural Triangle, Sri Lanka — V68 Adventures private transport

Kandy was the last royal capital of Sri Lanka and remains its cultural and religious heart. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic houses a tooth of the Buddha, making this one of Buddhism's most important pilgrimage sites. Kandy sits at 500m in the hills, with a cooler climate than Colombo and a lake at its centre.

FAQ — Kandy private driver

What's the dress code at the Temple of the Tooth?

Shoulders covered and long pants or a long skirt. Shoes are removed at the entrance. White is traditional but any modest clothing works.

When is the Esala Perahera festival?

The famous 10-day festival of decorated elephants and drummers happens in July or August (lunar calendar). If you're visiting then, book accommodation months ahead.

Is Kandy worth more than one night?

Yes. Two nights is the sweet spot — one day for the temple and the Botanical Gardens, a second for the cultural show and a slower-paced exploration of the lake and city.
